This was a very special photo shoot. A photo shoot that symbolises a woman's own strength, courage and determination. A story of hope & inspiration.
Sheryl has beaten Breast Cancer TWICE over the past 23 years. The first time Sheryl found out she had cancer, she underwent both chemo and radiation and remained cancer free for 19 years.
The most recent occurrence was 4 years ago when Sheryl found out that the cancer was back to challenge her once more. But this time the decision was made to go ahead with a partial mastectomy.
Because of having previous chemo & radiation, Sheryl's skin broke down and left her with scars. But that was the least of her worries and she is so incredibly thankful to be a survivor.
Sheryl feels so lucky to have had the wonderful support from her partner, children, family and friends who helped her to remain positive.
The next step for Sheryl was to get a nipple tattoo and a friend recommended a great tattoo artist who does a lot of tattoos for breast cancer survivors.
Continuing on her journey, Sheryl was blessed to receive a gift voucher for a makeover & photo shoot with me, from a dear friend who recommended she do this for herself.
Like a lot of women, getting in front of the camera was daunting to Sheryl, but she plucked up some courage and went ahead and booked herself a photo shoot.
Meeting Sheryl and hearing her story moved me in such a way and I was so excited to give Sheryl a beautiful experience and create incredible portraits that she'd be proud of.
Portraits that Sheryl and her loved ones will cherish always.
After a day of pampering with hair and makeup, styling and photography, a few weeks later Sheryl was back in the studio for her PORTRAIT REVEAL!
After all the time in surgery and treatments, Sheryl was secretly surprised that she could still look good.
It was such an honour to help Sheryl on this journey - to show her that she is as beautiful as ever, and has an incredible love and light that shines out from inside her.
Thank you again Sheryl for the honour of photographing you.
You are a beautiful, special and unique woman.
